My truck is a 92 4.0L XLT 2WD

I have 2" lift coils with f150 spacers sitting in my garage.

This should give me 3.5" in the front.

I have Chevy 64 in. leafs in the back and i'm going to put 2" lift blocks from a 4x4.

This should give me 3.5" in the back.

My two questions are:

1) Is it absolutely necessary to regear my truck from 3.08 to 3.73 or higher? I wouldn't be offroading at all until I did the regear. It would be strictly street.

2) Is it absolutely necessary to put longer shocks on my truck? Again I wouldn't be offroading at all.

Lots of input would be great!

You need drop brackets in the front after 2" of lift if you want to align it...

You're going to want atleast 4.10s to DD your truck with 31s... If you have 3.08s I'd imagine you have an auto... If thats the case, without the re-gear you're going to put a lot of stress on that transmission, other wise, eating a lot of clutch on an MT.

It's actually a manual, and I have the drop brackets being fabbed by a buddy of mine.

So i have an 8.8, is there anyway to regear without replacing the whole axle?

Do you know anything about the shocks?

Yes you will need longer shocks otherwise you run the risk of ripping them apart and yes it could happen even on the street, and as far as re-gearing if you buy the gears and master install kits a shop shouldn't charge you very much to do the install, but as I'm sure your already aware it could be cheaper to just do a swap. FYI the guy who re-geared my rear-end only charged me 150 for labor as i brought him all the stuff he needed to re-gear including pulling the rear-end myself

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that buying a whole new rear end might be cheaper.. but there's a guy on eBay that's selling a 4.56 ring and pinion for $188 w/ $18 shipping. Is that a good deal?

what size tires will you be running? i dont see ware that is said. cause if its stock you should be good

those gears are manufactured by motive gear, i purchased gears from that same company multiple times and have had no problem so you should be fine, as for tire size the 4:56s are more than sufficient for 33s
