I have a 1991 Ranger STX 4x4 w/ 2.9l V6, 5speed manual

I just purchased the truck last week and the previous owner had stated that the clutch was going to need replacing soon but didn't elaborate on the problem.

I had driven back and forth to work all week and had zero issues with the tranny, only about 15 miles each way.

This weekend we took a trip down to our property and after approx 80miles I hit the offramp and had No clutch at all, the pedal went straight to the floor and had no pressure. I pulled to the side and let the truck sit for about 20 minutes and the pedal felt fine again.

90% of the trip down was highway travel and I had it overdrive most of the way. On the way home, I kept it out of OD and never had an issue w/ the clutch.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Sounds like a leak in the clutch hydraulics.

Thanks,I'll let you know

The clutch went today on the way to work, it's in the shop now.......

I bet the clutch itself is fine, most likely the Slave cylinder is leaking fluid, so you have no pressure on the pedal. (It could be the master, but that's less likely)
