Finished Lifting - now what shocks?

Ok, so i did the lift on my '95 Ranger using a pair of rear leafs from an Explorer and a 4x4 lift block.

Tuned out pretty good except for the fact that I forgot to change the stock shocks and ended up breaking the stud off the upper rear shock mount.

The mount fixed I now am faced with getting the right shocks.

The lifting your Ranger on a Budget says "Use shocks for the 4WD application." Am I to understand that I should be asking the parts place for shocks to fit a 4x4 of the same year as my truck?

I am going to take measurements at full droop and compression tomorow.

How big of a block is on there ? Because if you went wih say a 2in block I would get 2in lift shocks for a 4x4 same year ranger. A 4x4 will work but you are limiting them and will were them out sooner.

On my ranger 4x4 i added a 2 inch lift in the rear, and the stock shocks still didnt limit down travel. Stockers should work 4 u. Take some measuremnets and advanced autos website has the measurements online

I'm not sure the stockers would do as one of the upper shock mounts broke on me so I had it welded and am now looking at what shock will fit.

Here are the measurements I took.

21 5/8" +/- (with a little weight in the back) with truck at rest without shocks installed,

21 1/4" full compressed,

24 3/4" full droop,

2000 Ford Explorer Leafsprings 1 3/4" height,

4x4 Ranger lift blocks 2 1/2" high

If anyone has an idea of what would fit let me know, need to get this done ASAP but don't want to get the wrong ones.

Rancho RS9000s are nice and have five adjustment on damping...kinda pricey but they last along time too. Monroe Gas Magnums are pretty good at keeping the ride nice but damping enough, and they are cheaper. You need to measuer your compressed and extended lengths and add at least one inch more for the down travel and subtract about 1/2" extra fro the up travel length, that way they don't tear the mounts off or rip the shock apart.

U can check with napa online too, they have a bunch of shocks to choose from, i think they carry rancho too, but im not 100% sure
