I hope you never have a problem with it. I bought a 42" LG plasma last year, it lasted 9 months and then it developed a pink vertical line down the screen. It sat at the warranty depot for 3 months, never got fixed, got a different story every time I called to check on it. Finally they refunded me my money and I bought a 46" Sony Bravia LCD.

I will never own another LG product again.

Hope you have better luck.

The big deal wasn't that the TV developed a problem, it was the piss poor warranty service. I actually had an LG Rep hang up the phone on me because he could not tell me what was happening with my TV after it had been there for 2 months. One day when I called i was told it was going to be repaired, the next week I was told it was being replaced because the part was not available, the next week I was told that they didn't even have a repair order started for my TV.

oh that sucks, that makes me feel better about my wife talking me into the stores extended warranty. I agree, some companies factory warranties are bullshit. Sounds like LG is one of those companies. I just couldnt say no to the special price on this big of a TV

Yea that's exactly the reason I bought the LG the first time, great deal at a boxing day sale.

You should be alright if you got the in store ESP contract.

Hope you enjoy it!

Plasma is a much better tv in any size over 42". Panasonic is the best plasma maker on the market right now. I love mine.

Certain aspects of plasmas are better, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're toast in a couple more years as LCD technology evolves.

In a couple more years a complete different technology will be out. Have you seen the LED tv's that are out now? They are far better than plasma and LCD ever though about being.

Technology works in cycles. 2 years ago, DLP was the thing with LCD and plasma being new to the tv market. Now DLP is a thing of the past and LCD and plasma's have taken over.

Good point. I haven't kept up on the cutting edge stuff since I bought my XBR in February, but I thought the LED TV's still had the regular LCD panel with a LED backlight, instead of a florescent. True/false?

I believe that is true, but it is one step closer to another technology.

Another good thing I like about plasma over LCD is if a plasma tube goes bad, it can be replaced. Once a LCD pixel goes out, it can not be fixed.
