How and the heck do you add a new wire to the fuse block on a 2002 (or later) Ranger. I have never seen any articles on how to do this. I am talking about the one under the hood.

On my truck there is the under the hood unit but for some strange reason there is another on the drivers side dash. Anybody having any comments will be be helpful

having two isn't strange...look at ANY vehicle on the road...there's always two.

As far as adding a new circuit, i don't know. I run an aftermarket 12 circuit fuse block mounted ontop of the under-hood fuse box cover. Take 12V from those two studs on the front of the underhood fuse box.

The underhood box protects the major electrical circuits at the power source. The inside box protects the smaller circuits, especially once they're branched off after the ignition switch. It's pretty much standard practice these days.

I sure was not too clear in my question. By adding a circuit I really meant was how to use the existing fuse block and get a wire out. It looks to me like you have to find the wire in the harness to use an exisiting location. This just doesn't make sense to me that you have 15 or twenty extra spaces and no way to get to them.

I like the idea of adding a fuse block like FXWanabe01 mentions but up here in Canada it is so hard to find these after market items. Customizing in the States is so much easier than here because the supplies have no volume so they just buy from the states and mark it up 100%.

Look into a "Fuse Tap" you can get a cheap tap from Radio Shack for $2 thats just a blade that slips in beside the fuse. Advance Auto sells a tap that replaces the fuse and comes with a seperate wire and fuse slots for about $6.
