I see it's been moved to the proper forum, but I wasn't looking at the home page, just at the "new posts" list....

Howdy Ibeam

What I would do is to look around at machine shops closeby. I would visit them and chat with the guys and make a selection from what was available to me around here.
When doing engine business long distance one might get into a powerful bunch of problems. I can think of lots and lots of "what if's" that could happen with almost any rebuilt engine.
So I advise staying close to home with your engine work.

Ford Factory rebuild? Can't possibly go wrong with OEM

I'm with big jim on trying to stay local for something like that. i've had problems with a rebuild and the machine shop is a small hike, but they have a satellite shop i've been going through to handle things from their main assembly shop and its nice to deal with someone face to face as i have had to do.

hell, check the good ole phone book. found the best contractor for a basement wall repair. motor shop had local advertising that i saw... not saying you're luck is any better, but man, if you run into a problems, its best to have something local your dealing with. for the OHV engine though, a reputable shop should certainly be able to provide a competitive price and plenty of help about the rebuild. check with the BBB...

DO check with Ford

I think you might be pleasantly suprised.

call ford? Go to the fomoco website and email their customer service and ask, or call a dealership, or what?

Would it be too much trouble

to do all of the above? SHOP AROUND! You will find different dealers will sell engines at different prices.
