I have a 87 bronco 2 it has been sitting for a long time and a guy just gave ot to me. He said it ran before he parked it. I gave it a tune up sparkplugs wires. Oil .and battrie. It still won't start it will crank and crank and sometimes it acts like it is going to start but won't. The relays are good and I have 40 psi of fuel pressure both pumps humm I have spark I took off the exhaust because everything from the cat went into the muffler. So I have bo idea what to do I have fuel, spark, and air it won't even start with starting fluid so if you have any idea please let me know you can email me at michaelm1000@hotmail.com also thank you for your time.

if your spraying starting fluid in it and your getting spark to the plugs, it should fire. maybe the timming got off?? still, id think it would at least backfire if the timmings off.

If it won't start with starting fluid, you could be

Not getting spark at all
Not getting spark at the right time(timing)
Really really low compression

and so on..

Really low compression it sounds like assuming the timing is good, have you checked the timing chain/belt at all yet? ( im not sure what the 2.9 comes with.) Check the ranger tech section for v-6's you might find some more answers.

It's a timing chain..maybe she busted?

If that were the case, I'd imagine you'd get some funny noises when it was turning over.

Did you dump the old fuel that was in the tank, or is it still in there?

There was no gas in it it was bone dry or had very litte I put 7 gallons of fresh gas in it I yet to check the timing or timing chain will do that tomorrow I hope it works. I talked to the guy who gave me the b2 and he said he put in new piston rings in it before he parked it.

IKts possible he forgot to put hte connecting rods back in LOL

So i got the b2 running my friend read the firing order wrong that is good it idles good but it has little little power it would barly get up a hill i had a b2 before i know the 2.9 is a small motor so any ideas why it is like that?

check the compreesion in all cylinders . does the rotor turn in the dis.
