so my brother just got his first ranger. we took it out last nite to test out the 4wd and we heard a faint metal to metal schreeching noise. payed no mind to it until the clutch pedal got rock hard and wouldnt let me put the truck in gear at a stand still. fluid level is good and no leaks. any ideas? im thinking slave cylinder/throw out bearing. its an 87 v6 with whatlooks like a mitsu. tranny. HELP!!

Clutch pedal solid?

My first guess would be the line came out of the slave..I don't know how possible that is tho..

Check the linkage at the pedal?

Maybe something on the pressure plate broke, and is stuck and preventing you from pushing in the clutch?
