8.8 Trac-lok swap

I have a trac-lok diff of unknown origin (I think its out of a mustang) with no abs tone ring. If I remember correctly the tone ring bolts between the carrier and ring gear? So there should be no difference between the carriers themselves right? :icon_confused:
 
from what the ford guy told me ANY 8.8 Diff uses the same guts. it dont matter if its a mustang irs or a ranger solid axle as long as the parts come and go into the ford 8.8 your good. only difference nd i reminded him of this is the 28 spline ranger and the 31 spline explorer. im not sure what the mustang runs but its gotta be one of them
 
Ok, that's what I thought. I think most of the mustangs were 28, I already checked and the new one is 28 spline, as my truck should be too, it's an open diff.
 
Stangs are all 28 spline except for the newer cobras and the very newest Gt's
 
The tone ring is kinda stretched over the OD of the carrier.

The carrier MUST be properly machined and have the locating notch or a tone ring cannot be installed on it.

so allan if i want one for my ranger what do i need to look for to get the rigt one does the ranger have the abs ring?
