My dad bought me a truck for school about two months ago. When I first got it, I thought it was a piece of crap. It's actually a really nice rig. The best part is that it was only $500! The guy my dad bought it from had no use for it anymore and was going to donate it for a tax write off.
It's a 1992 Ranger XLT 4.0L V6 2WD
The only problem with it is that the engine burns some oil and the front bumper is bashed in on the driver's side. It's got about 160XXX miles. Lucky for me I'm going to the Junkyard tomorrow to look for a new bumper, some old Chevy rear leaf springs, and some old f250 mirrors. Before this years over I want to have some 31's on some Rock Crawler 15x8's.
My question is:
Is it really worth it to buy a new stock bumper, or should I fabricate a new PreRunner bumper? I know I couldn't do it by myself, but one of my friends can dominate the bumper fabricating project. The other thing is front suspension. I don't want to buy a kit for my truck so I was thinking about putting in some new coils or something. Last thing is My light in the rear above the slider window doesn't work. I know it's not the bulb because I've tried more than one. Any ideas on fixing it?
Here are some pics of what I've done so far on my truck. I've pretty much just added a CD player and polished the crap out of it. I also sold that gnarly canopy top. I drilled some holes in the bed liner to expose the holes for my new ratchet straps. I got some new wipers and sealed a leak in the front window. I hope to do a lot more work.
