got her wet and dirty irratic rpms

ok here is the deal. 94 4.0 b4000, went and got her a lil dirty when i went thru the first mud hole not even that big, i was getting irratic idle. But the thing is it will go to about 2k seem like it wants to die comes back and if i hammer it my cel will come on and my rpms will read 0rpm but im still running if anyone could help that would be great.

I'd do a quick visual inspection on the wiring harnesses; make sure no plugs are loose that water could have splashed into. I'd also check my air filter box and make sure no water got on the filter media. I took a smallish mud one time that made some water splash unto the hood but not so much that you'd think twice about it. a whole bunch of muddy water got into the air box and soaked the air filter making air almost impossible to pass through.
