I was thinking of going up in tire size, but no sure if I will hurt anything. Currently I have 245/75-16s, thinking of going up to 265/75 or 265/70 How much bigger is a 245 vs 265 vs 285? Could I even run a 285 on a stock truck? Also, RPM vs hp/torque curve. I was brought up thinking that lower rpms are better for everything(drivetrainwise), unless you need to bring the rpms up for passing/climbing/braking/towing etc. But if the curve for the sohc engine doesn't really get going until after 2500, should I be driving like that all the time? Most of the time I dont need that kind of perfomance(in traffic anyway) What kind of effects will I be looking at?

245-75-16 = 30"
265-75-16 = 31"
285-75-16 = 33"

I think you would be pushing it with the 285 without some kind of lift. If you put this tire on and get in a bind you might tear up a fender. And of course the taller tire you go it is best to change the gear with it. Although you are looking into some money in doing that. Sometime running a lower RPM is ok but chugging the engine is a different story. Chugging the engine will use more gas. Also giong with bigger tires affects the speedometer and that should be recalibrated.
