Snapping pushrod into Clutch Master Cylinder

well guys i just installed a new clutch master cylinder and when i opened the box the pushrod was not attached to the master cylinder like the one i had removed...does it just snap into the hole? how do i make it stay in there and not come out..or is suppost to just sit in there freely?
 
There's supposed to be a two prong barb inside the tail of the piston that retains the pushrod.

Don't install it prematurely.

having it off makes it MUCH easier to install the master cylinder
(you install the pushrod AFTER you have it mounted to the firewall)

How do you bleed it without the pushrod you ask?

Simple, use a screwdriver to push the piston.

hmm...maybe mine is mising the barb that holds the pushrod in? is the two prong barb removable or is is part of the piston? i blead the system by using hte rod to push in the piston but the rod didnt stick inside the piston maybe the barb is missing? or maybe i need to push harder to make it grab inside?
