Hello,
I have a 2.3 with an AOD transmission (4R44E I think) and I've been having a problem with slippage. It seems to be when I've defeated the overdrive (which I usually do on the streets). When I'm already rolling, I hit the gas to get passing gear (like getting onto the freeway onramp before I turn the O/D back on) and it behaves like it's in neutral, i.e. the engine just winds out and I'm coasting. What I've done when that happens is to take my foot off of the gas, wait just a sec, and try again. It usually engages, but not always, and I'm sure it's only getting worse. Is it the transmission itself, or is it in the electronic overdrive? I'm hoping a rebuild is not in my future.
