my problem sounds a little different than 99iowa4x4ranger.
mine is a 99 4.0 4x4. At idle in park it runs smooth. When I put it in gear (auto tranny) and give it a little gas is starts with the misfire or shudder. I can also foot brake it to do the same. I have replaced the plug wires and fuel filter. I probably shouldn't say this but I do have the E3 plugs in it. Was working fine until towing the car back from the race track and it started doing it when it was at about 1500 RPM while driving. I have also cleaned the MAF.
Anyone else got any suggestions on what I should check? Thanks.
