Battery guage bounces

I got a question. Every now and then my battery guage bounces. Also at night when it does this my lights flicker. I dont know where to begin to try and fix this. I believe it was end of last summer I had my alternator tested and its putting out the right amount of volts. Also my battery stays charged. I have no sound system, no winch, it just happens at random times when it wants to. Were do I begin?

I would check all of your chassis grounding points and battery cables. Clean off any crud on there that might be making a marginal connection.

I had the same stuff and it was the top prong on the side plug!

When I experienced similar things on my '94, it turned out to be a bad starter solenoid. The oil filter sits directly above the starter/solenoid, and the wiring might have been compromised when changing out the oil filter.
I replaced the starter as well as the solenoid and haven't had a bit of trouble since.
