M5OD R1 install today, making weird whiny noise through out rpm range. fluid type????

i got my trans in today and hooked up everything, its a rebuilt m5od and its making a loud whining noise though out the rpms in all gears.

dex/merc fluid was used:icon_confused:

dosent seem right to me but kragens computer says its right..

WHAT fluid is correct for the m5od-r1 in a 1995 3.0??

could not enough fuild be doing this?? sucks cause these trannys dont have a fluid checker

Sure they do. Park on level ground, take out the fill bolt. Fill until it runs out. To check, you park on said level ground, take out the bolt, and stick your finger in to see if it's still level with the bottom of the bolt hole.

My wife's Malibu makes you jack up all 4 sides so that it's level, slide under the engine while it's running and THEN remove the level-checking bolt and check it while everything is going... so the Ranger is a walk in the park.

Have you reinstalled the shift boot?

The Mazda trans is kinda noisy because it uses thin oil that doesn't
damp the normal rollover noises

Agreed. I forgot my shift boot (DUH). There is a small amount of whine from gear to gear mesh. The boot is there for sound insulation. I'll get mine put back in as soon as I finish the book on procrastination..........

ahhh ha! yeah my shift boot is off right now do to the plate between the trans and me not having the right holes to mount the cup holder..

another thing i gotta fix switching from auto to manual shift..

thanks guys
