Can anyone tell me how to remove the accessories belt (serpentine belt)? How do I relieve the tension in the belt so that I can remove the alternator?

thanks for the help.

Some of the tensioner arms like that on my 4.0
have a 3/8" square drive so you can turn it with a ratchet.

There is usually a little pictogram on the radiator support telling you which way to move it as well as belt routing.

You can also just pick up a serpentine belt tool. I got one for $15, came with the wrench, and extension, and 6 different sockets for various tensioners. It comes in a handy a lot.
