I finally got my motor back from the machine shop and set it in the 88 4x4 ranger. the mounts that i fabbed from the tech library needed the holes longated just a little bit to fit "bout a half an inch"so , i did that on the pass. side ,moving the motor closer to the pass. side. im still not happy where the oil pan is about a 3/4'' above the ttb pivot mount. are the flat plate mounts just for the 2 wheel drives ? or will i be ok and it's nothing to worry about? where am i hooking up the ecm ? the donor vehicle was an 88 bronco -it was on the drivers side and plugged into the firewall . the progect rangers stock ecm location is on the pass. side and is not going through the firewall. my big question is:do i mount the ecm on the pass. side-use the rangers plug-run the wires through the firewall and then cut/splice my connections from the full size bronco ecm to the rangers ? the tech library only has a wire diagram for a rangers 2.8 hooking to a 5.0/302. ive place my 5.8 357 efi in the truck allready and need this to go as smoothly as possible. there is a difference between the way the 2 different motors fire ... right ? im sure some of you guys are a wiz with the electrical sh*t, but im no einstein, lol. electrical is a weak point of mine.
1) location of the ecm? 2)use the bronco's plug or cut it off? 3)correct color code breakdown to make the connections between the two 4)will the dana 28's ttb mount interfere with the oil pan? i will be doing an SAS when i finnish my d44. i posted last week in mis.electrical and havent got any replies. i guess there's very little traffic in there .
suggestions please--im almost and i dont need to screw this up if i dont have to. i'll be posting pix when it lives.
thanx guys

Your Bronco and Ranger ECM's should have nearly identical pinouts at the ECM. Tell me what engine your Ranger had in it before and what engine you're putting in and I'll try to make a pdf out of the charts for the two truck's ECM wiring. I know my 86 2.9L Ranger converted to a 5.0L (88 F150 ECM) only required 2 additional injector connectors. Everything else was pretty much OK.

THANK YOU !!!
WOW, those links that you sent me basically showed me just how simple it is. i can now confidently procede forward. i was over thinking a "bad situation". i had no idea that both of the connectors were 60 pin, i assumed that they were completely different.
you got a some beers coming your way :icon_cheers::)
