I just serviced my 2001 Rangers automatic transmission. I have done this once before at around 60,000 miles and now it is at 100,000. I removed the pan, removed and replaced the filter, put a new gasket on and put it back together. I then filled it up to the correct level on the dipstick and now it is shifting very very hard from 1st to 2nd to 3rd. It also will not downshift when I floor it.

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

Is the OD light flashing?? Just for shits and grins i would see if there are any codes in tranny some codes wont set light off but will set the tranny in high line, if not then i would say EPC stuck closed and creating a high line pressure situation. These units dont have a kick down cable or linkage.

Maybe knocked a wiring plug-in loose when
removing the pan or filter?

come to think of it there is a service message for the epc solenoid sticking. usually it wil slip but it may also stick the other way.
