My 87 Ranger extended cab, 5 speed needs a new coupling between the driveshaft and transmission. I cannot find one anywhere. Any help appreciated. The truck is Ace with 300,000 on her, so hate to hang it up over this Flex Joint.
Ford and suppliers do not have listing for 87's. This is a rubber "coupling", (looks like a steering shaft coupler). Goes right between the transmission yoke nad driveshaft.
Not on all 87's, just my luck!!
Any ideas?? Tried ever local wrecker too, no luck.
Thanks for your Time.

Why not switch over to the more popular driveshaft? Would solve all your problems.

I have seen the coupler that you are talking about. I have never seen one fail. Did it fail just from age (dry rot)?
I agree with the others. Find the parts to replace it with a regular drive shaft.

Thanks for advice

Appreciaite your replies, looks like switching out to something common is the answer.
The rubber failed from age I guess. Truck has 300,000 but not worked hard.
FoMoCo doesn't does not carry the part any longer, I am a little disappointed there. Guess they don't expect their trucks to go 20 years!!
Nothing after market, UAP etc do not have a listing!
Wrecks get stripped fast, none around so far.
If you have not seen the setup, be happy. I understand not all 87 exteneded cabs had this "flex coupling" It has the 2 piece driveshaft, but where the driveshaft bolts to the transmission output yoke there is this rubber coupling.
(agin looks like a steering shaft coupler)

Anyways, Thanks to all.

My '87 supercab has the regular u-joints. Most people convert to the newer one piece driveshafts, Which is what I plan to do.
The auto companies don't want their vehicles to last more than ten years/100,000 miles. They really hate people like me!
