Yaesu FT-7800R Amature Radio mounted and ready to use

This is my Yaesu Ft-7800R Amature Radio that I use. I mounted the radio under the seat and used a LM-300 floor mount attached to the passenger's seat bolt to hold the remote head. The mic fit perfect in that slot, next to the air bag switch, on the dash. What do yall think of the location? The antenna I used is a Larsen 2/70 mag mount stuck to the fenderwell (temporary solution) I ran the coax through a drain plug in the driver's side floor board.

I updated the pics finally! I don't like to alter trucks so that they cannot be easily converted back to stock, so I set the radio up like this. Also it keeps the radio cool and out of the way.

yeah, good idea about keeping it so you can go back to stock if you need to. wouldn't the antenna have a more effective radiation pattern if it were centered on that tool box instead of on the fender?

The antenna will work much better on top of the cab.

If you are using a magmount and are worried about scratching the paint you can buy a roll of clear paint protective film and set the antenna on that.

I would have put it on the toolbox, but it is a solid lid. I have seen guys around here with the two door toolbox mount them in the center. Eventually it will get onto the cab. I have been too busy to get to it. Thanks for the ideas, every bit counts. I can hit the Raleigh repeater from my house just outside of Kinston, approx. 69 miles w/50 watts transmitting on 2 meter.
