just bought this for my ranger


There may be a minor increase in HP with a later 2.3 engine...but it says "high output"...not sure what that means specifically because I don't recall any HO versions of the engine...and even then it may have been 10 HP more than the stock versions...not really worth the swap unless your engine is pooched...it might be a good starter block for a Turbo conversion or even an overbore rebuild of the short block...

I'd rebuild it and put forged pistons in it...then turbo charge...but that is only because it is my next secret project...that is no longer secret...
 
ok thats what i figured to and its only because its all i can find and need a new engine for my truck. it will fit right?
 
yes all 2.3 motors are basically the same. heck, if a 302 fits, then a 4 banger will no problem.
 
It'll fit, just be careful that it isn't from an OBD-II (95+) truck as you'll have problems with the Crank sensor... essentially you have to drill your own holes for one.
