Not new to Ford, but this is my first Explorer. I was sent a link from a friend to a local forum where it was being sold for $675. I have been wanting to do a v8 Ranger again and thought this would be a good parts truck. It has some front frame damage, but if it isn't too bad, I may fix this truck as it looks too nice to part. Then again, it's not like it is running right now. Haven't gotten it to my house yet, but looking forward to tearing into it.
If it is too bad, I am looking for a '98+ Ranger to put it's guts into. I have been looking for some months, but they are pretty $$$ compared to Explorers (extended cab). I converted an '88, '91, and '92 Ranger to v8. All EFI ala A9L setup.
Hoping to find some good info and people into this kind of thing. When I did my v8 conversions several years ago, there weren't many people doing it. GREAT learning experience and I learned a LOT about fuel injection. Of course, if I find a '98 up Ranger, it sounds like a much quicker job other than maybe some welding on the 8.8 rear to get everything transplanted.
I got pretty motivated when I saw some crazy man with a DOHC 4.6 in a Ranger posted somewhere here!!!
Take care,
Don
