Tail lights/third brake light

I looked through the forum, and saw one or two that start to answer my questions. however, I didn't find any answers.

1. I like the early tail lights (with yellow turn signals), but can't find a replacement light for my 2004 Ranger. Anyone have experience here?

2. I would like to replace my third brake light and add the cargo area lights, but can't find any replacements. Does anyone know where to get a direct replacement?

look at my guide i am creating for the 3rd brake light to cargo light swap.i am in the process of creating it now but i have the supply list made and posted already.you can get the light and the plug in harness at your local auto salvage yard.

Even if you got a new 3rd brake light with cargo lights, there's a really good chance the wire for the cargo lights isn't there. So, you would have to run a wire yourself for the cargo lights. I mounted a toggle switch on the dash and ran the wire directly to the fuse block on my truck.

for the yellow turn lights, u must rewire first, cuz the 01+ came with single bulb system, that is: 1 filament for running lights and 1 filament for stop/turn, the 94-99 that had yellow turn light came with double bulb system, the turn signal came to a single bulb.

Aside from the wiring, will the lamp itself (from a '99) fit the '04? Seeing if anyone knows before I dig one up and try it on for size. Thanks for the wiring info too.

yep any 93-09 can be interchangeable, i have 01-05 on my 99, i rewired from 2 bulb system to single bulb system

If you're referring to the tail light housing, yes it will fit.

Hondo and Jay. Now I will search the local salvage yards and get my lights so I can begin the "retro" fit. Sounds like in Honduras you did the opposite of me. Thanks to all respondants!

yep did the opposite, crazy world isnt it?? lol! :icon_twisted: if i just be in the US i would give u my 99 tails they are in excellent shape and i dont need em, but ...damn!
