Hi to all. I am currently on my fifth Ranger , a 2000 trailhead which I've now owned for 4 years. Haven't any problems untill 2 months ago when I found out about the dreaded C309 water intrusion (totally corroded ) at connector issue! I'm trying to rewire it direct without the plug connector and am now a little stuck! If any one has any good ideas on this I'd sure appreciate it. I'll post some pics if that would help.

Ok , thanks to you guys I got the picture thing figured out. Here's the truck & as you can see the wiring mess I've started. I was trying to eliminate this connector all together and thought I could just put same color wires to same color wires . Problem is now i have "extra wires" and am kind of stuck. I can't seem to find a wiring diagram for this connector. Ford wanted $800.00 to fix this problem before i started on it ! Thanks for any help.
 
Just which connector is giving you the problem, take it you don't have the Helms wiring diagram?

Its the connector you see in the photo underneath the wires. All the pins in this connector were highly corroded! The connector is only on '00 models I've been told. It comes from underneath the floorpan(exposed to the elements) to under the drivers seat inside truck(under carpet). I found a junkyard in greenbay,Wi. that has 3 '00 rangers i could get the part off of but that is a 3 hr. drive for me. No , I do not have a helms diagram. Are they good ?

If I don't have the one you need already scanned into .pdf, I will type out whatever you need. I cannot do this until later tonight, but I WILL do it for you.

Start by making a list of the wire colors you have no mate for.
 
BN/WH 962 is from Park Lamp trailer tow relay, stays BN/WH to trailer connector for running lights

BN/WH 351 mates to BN/WH 351 (both came out of Pin 29 of C309) I never found these in the schematics

BN/WH 764 comes from GEM Pin 19 and goes to BN/WH to the transfer case

BK/WH 570 from Ground 201(inner LF fender) mates to BK/OG 396 coming from fuel level sender, (Instrument Cluster 60-1 says it goes to G101, but ground is ground).

BN/WH from the Fuel tank Pressure sensor (also available at C422) mates to BN/WH (Pin 90) of the PCM (also available at DPFE and TPS (BN/WH there too)


I "believe" that covers all your cats and dogs that "didn't mate".

LG/OG mates to LB/OG and is called "not used" in the Turn/Stop/Hazard Lamps Pg.90-3

I think that's all the wires that aren't a straight match, color to color, plus all those BN/WH's.

Thanks to all that helped on this. After 4 months out of commission my Ranger is back on the road ! 2 trips to the junkyard for a donor connector did the trick.:yahoo::beer:
