Limitations Of Stock Arms

Alright,

I'm looking around at lift kits and I see kits such as the Superlift, which makes 6" sound like a piece of cake with the stock arms in the description. However, I see people building Rangers with only 5.5" of lift but yet they have super fancy heavy duty arms that look like they were pulled off of some spaceship.

I'm only looking to go 4" - 6" of suspension lift. Do I REALLY need fancy arms?
 
Long arms improve the geometry of the suspension--an infinitely long arms would be best as it would allow the knuckle to travel up and down without an arc and the caster wouldn't change. The camber will still change because that is dictated by the length of the beams.

The other thing the longer radius arms do is improve suspension travel if you are using bushings--which you are. A circle with a longer radius has more circumference.
 
ok, thats kinda what i figured.

do you think that the stock arms would at least be good enough for general light off roading? i live in NJ so were not talking about ripping through the desert at high speeds, or jumps, or anything like that hahaha
