Really Wanting Flame-thrower exhaust.

I have always wanted them on something......

I've been researching, and apparently they won't work with catlytic converters.
And they don't work well on smaller engines 4/6 cylinders?

Anybody have any experience with these?
I've seen guys spray propane into their stacks on diesels to get this effect, but i don't see buying propane to burn out of my truck, and store it in the bed, and get it stolen all the time would be very safe/cost effective.

Gee..... My uncle just used a spark plug in the exhaust hooked up to a switch but this was with a manual choke so he could shoot out long flames. Do you think it could be done on a newer vehicle
 
I know Vin Diesel knows how to hook one up...I'd ask him.
 
what u could do is get ur return line from ur motor and run it to about the end of ur exhaust with spark plug with a manual switch for both and when u want to throw some flames open the line up and turn the spark plug on or something close to that should work
 
That's kind of what I was thinking.

trouble on new vehicles is the Cat's burn off the unspent fuel that would be making the flames, and I don't wanna dump raw fuel in my exhaust like they suggest.

If you want decent flames like in the movies (2 fast 2 furious) youll only get that with a separate fuel/ignition source got flames and other companies just cut spark and dump fuel into the exhaust. The guys that have huge flames use propane or gas with special ignitors or spark plugs. Ive seen on guy that had a 2-3" ark between 2 electrodes, didnt get close enough to see how it was set up but I could hear the ark from 30ft away and the flames were 10-15ft long. No matter what fuel you go with you need purpose built injectors so you dont end up with blowback like when you cut the line on your oxy acetylene and it will burn just at the cut untill you turn the bottle off the drop in pres. alows the burn to continue into the line toward the bottle(return line from the fuel pressure reg is a bad idea) there are a few companies that build these systems try searching propane flame kit or something like that
 
There used to be a guy that made a propane injection kit........
his system kind of ran raw fuel lines into the cab though, he's no longer in business.

Electronic actuators would be the only way!!!!!

cutting the ignition is a great way to blow a hole in your exhaust system....ask me how i know.

also, a dedicated fuel/spark system for the flames isnt as simple as it sounds. remember a fire needs 3 things to burn: fuel, ignition, and OXYGEN. fuel injected engines are very good at consuming very close to all the oxygen that enters the chambers, meaning its hard to support a flame in the exhaust pipe. it can (and has, obviously) been done....but its not as simple as a spark plug and a fuel injector...again, ask me how i know.
 
it was a rhetorical question...but the answer is because ive tried both :beer:
