:shok:I know which one it was. I watched that thread closely, that was a sweet build. Why the heck did you trade that? They're both sweet...but still!

cause I wanted a diesel to tow with, my gasser just wasn't up to the demands I was putting on it. Besides I still have the truggy. Hell this diesel is getting better mileage then the explorer did lol

Ya I dont blame you. Hell my buddy's 2500 with a Cummins gets better mileage than my Ranger. You need to hook 'em up with Johnny.:D:icon_thumby:

Maybe with the turbo but that would be down the road.....cut the stock 2.5" pipes and muffler off yesterday and straight piped it with 3" as well as replaced the air filter that was one of the worst I had ever seen. Also changed the right side exhuast manifold as it was broke in half. Replaced the rubber filler neck on the rear tank. Still lots of little things to do yet...but getting there. Oil change is today.

You know whats funny? Me and a few buddy's were having a discussion on tow rigs and my ideal one was everything you got on that F-350! I'm jealous thats an awesome truck you got there.

sweet truck im looking to buy a f-250 or 350 7.3 but im to picky i want that same body style. 4x4 manual t-case and a standard trans. deffinatly needs a turbo diesels are such dogs when not turboed well they arent that fast either way but turbos are fun. a guy in my class has a sick 95 f-350 7.3 he has so much work done to that thing pushes 40 lbs of boost. and revs to 5 grand videos on youtube just type in frank 7.3 his burnout video is the best catches 4 gear.

Sweet find, too bad it couldn't have been a different color though.

You chopped the exhaust for a 3" straight pipe? Isn't that loud? I chopped my non turbo 7.3 (well the muffler kinda fell off on the way back from anchorage) thing was like a f-ing dragster everywhere i went! Slapped on a thrush glasspack from napa and a right front exit sounds nice.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hchz_-YsmHM
Nice truck BTW! different color maybe but still nice.

It pulls pretty hard and quick as it sits for how big it is, not looking to win races, just get decent MPG's for towing the truggy.
With how it sits, trailered the truggy this weekend and averaged 13.2 mpg towing in the country. Thinking highway towing might be a little better. Hell my F250 gets 12 mpg just driving empty to work and back.

How much of the history do you know on this truck? Miles? Last time the injector pump was replaced? Does it idle smooth or does it have a little shake? If it shakes you might have a bad injector. The timing may also be off and that wont help the MPGs.
Check out www.oilburners.net for more info on the IDI 7.3s.

already on oilburners
Injector pump doesn't look oe (no factory paint on the pump or injector lines). Idles good, suppose to have 120K miles, and was told the pump was turned up a flat. But I towed with it this past weekend (about 7000lbs behind the truck) in the country with lots of curves and shifting. I got 13.2 with it.

Wish I had a truck like that as a wood hauler!
I'll give you one tip. Run TCW-3 2 stroke oil at 1-1.5 oz per gallon of fuel. It will calm that ol' 7.3 down and increase your milage. Basicaly lubes the injectors for the most part. Replaceing what they took out of the new ULSD fuel. If you'd like more info on this search over on the Dieselgarage forum.

I love your rig, hell even the color is cool to me.. I've been thinking about getting a F100/150/250/350 if I can find one cheap on craigslist... I love the 70s models, 80s and mid 90s a lot.. hell I like all of the F series models but I'd really like a mid 70s with a 390 or 460 in it.
Will probably only get about $1000 back from taxes and since I am in credit card debt I know it would be smart to pay it off but I feel like all I do is spend 75% of my check on bills so it would be nice to invest a little cash into something that I have proof of when I blow my funds :icon_twisted:

I had a '89 F250 with a 7.3 diesel. Non turbo. It towed really good. It didn't blast up long grades, but towed really good.
Tip: Keep extra glow plugs in the truck. For some reason, every so often mine would get to where it wouldn't start that well and when I threw new glow plugs in it, it would start right up.

But dont ever use Autolight or champion glow plugs. They will swell up and break off in the head when you try to remove them.
Beru or motorcraft plugs are the only way to go.
Some more info on that.
