anybody know if the Ford Traction lock limited slip for the 28 spline 8.8 is worth the 200 bucks its that or the lock rite but im on a slim budget seeing how i gotta rebuild my rear end too but i figured id go from an open to a limited slip while its torn down

if youre going to go through the motions of tearing it all apart, you should go with the lock rite. the difference between the trac loc and the lock rite are night and day. alot of other member have also scored pretty good deals on their lockers by shopping around and even getting used ones from other members when they upgrade axles.

In the grand scheme of things the lock rite is cheaper because it doesn't require any gear setup. If you swap your open carrier for a limited slip carrier the gears need to be properly set up again which will run you a few hundred bucks.

I would only go with a trac-lok if you could get it for dirt... Otherwise... Lock-rites a dead simple install... and you dont need to pay someone to setup gears like KennyKenny mentioned.

Richmond Gear makes both the Lock-Rite, more for off road use or the No-slip more for a DD. Lock-Rite around $280 while the No-Slip runs around $480. Both install easy at home with no gear-setup, common hand tools in two hours. You can find deals on them once in awhile.
