On an '88 instrument cluster with a tach, there are 2 wires for the tach. The signal wire is green with a yellow stripe. The other wire is black with a yellow stripe. On the tach circuit board it is marked L2. Can somebody tell me what it's for?:dunno:

My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
It appears to to be a ground. The '88 Ford book doesn't show the tachometer in the cluster, but indictes Dk Grn/Yel as tach signal and Blk/Yel as tach ground in the ignition system section. The Mitchell book shows the cluster with a tach, and agrees with Dk Grn/Yel as tach signal and Blk/Yel as tach ground.
