Is this Tranny swap possible

I need to know if I can put a FM-145 5 speed that is behind a 2.9 in a 1987 Ranger 4x4 into a 1983 Ranger 4x4 with a 2.8 that has a 4 speed. Will it bolt up and what mods will have to be made? Thanks
 
It will bolt up and no mods will be needed.
 
yea the 2.8/2.9/4.0 all have same bell housing bolt pattern
 
I believe the 4 speed TK will be shorter than the FM-145...

I would compare the lengths beforehand.
