stretching wheel base

I have noticed that some people have stretched their wheel base by moving their front axle forward via drop brackets. Are these brackets custom or are they from some manufacturer? Besides wheel base, is there anything else that is affected? Can someone give me some input?

Moving it forward with drop brackets?

The drop brackets just move it down, to fit taller springs and therefore 'lift' it.

You would have to move the coil buckets, radius arm mounts, steering, etc. PITA

Easier to move the rear axle back...

You can add spacers to the radius arm bushings to push the front axle forward. Your limited to about 1/2-3/4" only. Just have to watch the passenger beam/axle shaft clearance to the bolt on the back of the drive beam bracket.

The rear is limited to about 2" back, that is if you are still planning to keep the fuel tank. Remove the fuel tank and you can go back as far as the frame will allow you to. There is a guy lumis32 or something that has flipped springs on his moving the axle back eve further. He's also got a SAS that pushes the front forward.

+1 (it's actually closer to 1" you can push it forward from stock before the axle hits the d-side pivot bolt).

I did this on mine. It actually improves your steering ackerman angle a little bit in the process as well.

My rear axle is back almost 3" (2.75" or so). It's also the 8.8" (I would think the stock 7.5" can go back a full 3").
