Need some help

I have a 99 Ranger with a 2.5L 4 banger. 2wd. I'm wanting to swap in the 5.0 but i'd rather run a carb. NOT EFI. I want to run an auto tranny. I have searched everywhere for info on this but its hard to find any. As far as guages and radio goes i can rig that up, This truck will be driven STREET only. What year model motor and tranny combo should i run? and will the trans-dapt kit from jegs work on my truck? (i think it is headers, oil filter relocation, and motor mounts) it only says ##-97 yr trucks. Thanks for the help guys

the trans-dapt kit from jegs.. NOT work i tryed it... look for a newer motor 2000+ and trans go with a C4 for a auto, or a T5 for a stick... the 5.0 motor is a ezer drop in most all the stuff line up.. you well have to look at the oil pan and steering for issuse. but a Explorer 5.0 well drop in on you stock motor mounts with a plate or just change them out to a 5.0 mount..GL

I've decided on building an S-10 insted(dont take it personal die hard ford guys). I read the tech article b4 posting my question. It's not a dupe i posted it first and got no response so i posted again with a bigger list of options. Sorry for the confusion.

If i was to pursue it, def go with the T-5(more fun to rip thru the gears) Iknow i could convert the EFI to carb later on with intake and dist. I have more chevy parts available to me. Thank you for your help mouse1977 and goodluck with your swap. hope it turns out great.
