What's the difference between the 93-94 grill and 95-97 grill? The grill in my 96 is broke. Someone has a 94 but when I looked up replacement parts there's a break between 94-95. Is it just the finish? For 93-94 I see argent and paint to match. For 95-97 I see chrome, flairside and painted. The 94 grill looks like my 96 grill. I wanted to make sure it would actually work before I had him send it to me.

All the '93-'97 grills can be interchanged. There are numerous cosmetic differences though, yes.

Rather than try to explain them all, it'd probably be easier to just put pics up.

'93-'94 XL 2WD (argent gray color)

'93-'94 XLT 2WD (gray with chrome upper trim) Also listed as optional on 4WDs, although rare

'93-'94 XLT & STX 4WD (gray w/ "4x4" impression at right, STX also has gray bumper)

'94 XLT 4WD (optional all chrome)

'93-'94 Splash (all) body-color-keyed

'95-'97 XL (all) & STX 4WD grill (gray)

'95-'97 XLT (all) (gray with chrome upper trim)

'95-'97 Splash (all) body-color-keyed

Hopefully that helps :icon_thumby:

As far as I know one of the differances is where the grill face and the headlight trim pieces meet/ split.

On mine (93) the grill center ends just as it starts to go over the had light, where as the 95-97 ones end at the line where the headlight and turn signal meet (imagine where the turn signal starts, so does the other trim piece.

So, to my knowledge, if you swap out the entire grill (three parts to it) you can use one of the other years, but you can't swap just 1 or 2 of the pieces. other than that (and styles), they are the same.

Here are some referance pics

And (95-97)

Hope that helps.

Now that you mention it, I do seem to recall seeing that also. I think only the all-gray 93-94 grill is that way though (my '94 is right above where the turn signal & headlight meet (same was true for my '93 2WD also).

Oh, ok. I have only noticed the type that splits above the head lights on 95-97's so I thought that was only those years.

Well, atleast we know that just becuase two trucks are the same year, doesn't mean the grill are the same (exluding style/ color).

Should be fine. Me and my friend would always play pranks on each other by switching parts from each others trucks, tail gates, bumpers, wheels, and yes even the grills. His is 95 and looked just like the picture below and mine looked just like the one above.

This style of grill are basically the same from 93-97, the only difference in the years, is the 93-94 are a 2 piece grille (the chrome strip above the grill is seperate) and 95-97 are 1 piece units (the chrome strip isn't removeable)
