f150 coil spring spacers.......ouch!!

so i went to the dealer today to order the f150 spring perches listed in the tech library so i could level out my 94. i was expecting for them to be around $15-20 like stated in the article. after i gave the guy the part no.'s he tells me that one side is $20.31 and the other is 72.67! WTF? its the same part just the exact opposite so what makes it so expensive? i had him order them anyways because if youve seen my build you know im in too deep not to be able to justify another $100 of parts. oh well, hopefully i wont be dissapointed in the end result.

well i went to pick up my spacers today at the dealer and to my surprise they tell me that they are not in and that the numbers are obsolete. couldnt they have told me this when they ordered them? i asked the guy at the parts counter if i could get a refund since they cant get the parts and he tells me ill have to come back later because it is only him and 2 other guys working today and he would have to run all the way up front to do the paper work and it would just be easier if i came back another day, before 2pm. what a bunch of BS, im going back to get my money and im never going to that dealer (Lasco Ford in Fenton) again.

Yeah.... That's BS. You should have gotten a refund.

I would just stack some washers, it's cheap.

how many washers does it take? im not even sure how tall those spacers are supposed to be, 1-1/2" or so? ill go out and measure the bolt diameter and grab enough from work to get an 1" or so and then see where it sits.

measuring the bolt on my 90' it looks like ill need 3/4" washers and ive only got about 1/2" of thread sticking out of the nut to work with, which comes out to about 5 washers stacked. hopefully that will be enough to clear those 30s, which im going to look at tonight.

BTW yeah that is a load of BS with the dealer, I avoid dealers at all costs lol. I would've just leaned on the counter and said "Ok go on up front, I got time.."

one of the members on here hooked me up with a set of 4 skyjacker coils spacers (1/4" thick) that have a hex cut into them that is the same size as the nut that is on the axle beam. i probably could have made them pretty easily, but ive got too much other stuff going on and the price was right.

i just read through your thread and now im thinking that 1/2" isnt going to get me shit! i dont really want to use the coupler though, it just doesnt look safe to me. it seems that when the coil spring compresses there would be a twisting force which could loosen the coupler and cause the spring to come out and stuff the wheel into the fender? i checked my bolt book, but they only make 3/4" bolts up to 8" long, which is what comes on our rangers stock. i think im going to throw those spacers under the springs anyhow, just to see how they sit, and if im not happy with it then ill just get some leveling coils and longer shocks (i think i have a pair of BDS shocks just chilling in my back room).

Yeah honestly I'm already tired of the measly 2" I got :icon_rofl:

The safety of the couplers I guess is debatable, there are tons of kits that use them (Daystar for example) but hey everything sold to masses isn't safe, I'll give you that.. I don't know if you plan on it, but yeah I wouldn't recommend any hard wheeling on them :icon_twisted:

I'm still trying to keep my adjustable camber bushings to stay IN the f**king axle :annoyed:

i seriously considered it (using the coupler and the spacers), but since my tires dont rub as it is, im just going to try to throw the spacers in and use the adjustable MOOG camber bushings ive got. down the road i may go to a leveling coil kit, and in that event i WILL be using your suggestion about the 93 f150 shocks, instead of switching to rancho rs5000 shocks. heres some pictures of my truck as it sits now.
