I just had my 2001 v6 4x, 4.0 in the shop for an alignment after getting tires, and about a half hour from leaving the shop im told that my left cam needs adjusting and that the cam is non adjustable, so i need another 150 bucks for the cam kit, otherwise my tires will wear on oneside despite the alignment. Could this be a true statement?
\Thanks:annoyed:

Yes it is, Ford put in a preset cam bolt in the upper control arms, and if your camber/caster needs to be adjusted then you need an adjustable cam bolt kit.

all very true, but good god $150? thats insane.

you can buy the kits for like 25 bucks on rockauto, npa etc

rockauto moog part number

That is about what the Ford parts cost, but again there are aftermarket kits that are much cheaper.

Thanks for the replies. I found the kit for 12 bucks on Ebay. Are these things difficult to install? Also, it looks like 2 pieces per kit. Is that enough for both sides, or do i need two kits? thanks

You need 1 kit for each side. You are pretty much just replacing the bolts that hold the upper control arms on.

thanks. well, i guess i have one side coming in the mail then. Would it be a bad idea to use one brand of a bolt kit on one side and a different on the other? I've got one in the mail already and i dont think i can return it.

No, it won't make a difference at all.
