Trans is whining

I have a 98 2wd 3.0 with a manual Mazda M50D-R1 trans with 203,000 miles. I have a whine in 3rd and 5th gear, the faster I go the louder and more high pitched the whine. I checked my trans fluid and its full, my clutch is going out so I plan to change it this weekend, I don't know if the whine is transmission or clutch let me know if any one has any ideas.
 
If it whines like the tranny's in a grand am or gt race car like mine did it means it's not long for this world. Mine did for a month or so even after a new clutch kit was installed and it locked in 4th gear. I pulled it and found 4th gear & syncro trashed. I'm hoping to repair vs rebuild but I'm not betting on it.
