Is it an fm-145 or a koygo 5 speed?

I have an 87 ranger 4x4 with a 2.9l v6 and the tranny is going out. I was wondering if anyone knew what tranny is in it. I know it has only 12 bolts on the oil pan and the pan is not ribbed. :icon_confused:

I know my Toyo Kogyo has a ribbed pan on it... so I am gonna say its the FM 145. But i don't know for sure.

Thanks, that's what i think too. the only reason i'm confused is because the vin # has a "5" in it and not a "D". that would lead me to believe that it is the koygo because of the tranny code "5", but the transmission looks like an fm-145.

the trans code is on the door sticker, not in the vin. either way, it *should* be an fm145. the 87's i've owned with manual transmissions have both had fm145's.
