Correct me if I am wrong. Limited slip diff from the factory is the same thing as lockers, correct?

If not, what are the differences in lockers and limited slip?

My '06 has the factory installed/upgraded ($500 on the sticker) 4.11 limited slip rearend.

no. limited slip has clutches to control speed/torque difference between the wheels during low traction conditions.

a locker is totally different and works MUCH better. a locker locks the wheels together as if they were on a solid axle.. allowing NO speed/torque different between sides and is the best choice for offroad.

a limited slip will allow some slippage during low traction conditions and usually doesn't transfer much torque without upgrading the clutch/spring pack

A locker locks the two sides of the differential together so 100% of the torque goes to each side... A limited slip transfers a percentage of torque so when one slips it's useless... Although, I've been very surprised with how well the Trac-Loc in my Exlporer works...

basically a limited slip is a friction device that inhibits the axles turning at different speeds

while a locker is either a "ratchet" (Detroit Locker)
or a "Cam & Pawl" that locks the shafts so that they must rotate together.

There are several ways of accomplishing either basic method
and they have varying effectiveness and varying effects on the
road manners of the vehicle in which they are installed.
