i am in the process of stuffing a 351w in to a 86 ranger 4wd. I was wondering if any one has tried a set off block huggers from summit or any others
thanks
cory

in 4wd application all of the standard block hugger headers required mods ime.

i usually trim the rails on both sides to fit 351 fox headers in gen 1/2 applications and run modded jeep or aerostar steering linkages.

i have a dumb question but whats ime. most of the 302 headers fit the passenger side but not the drivers from what i been reading, right? which brand is better to start modifying with or should i start from scratch and build my own?

In most cases the passenger side frame needs a little trimming.

I only needed to trim the passenger side frame rail and not too much.

The 4x4's are the ones that need the special driver's side header (comes down really quick, the passenger's side looks like an mustang/truck unit.
I found the Summit Truck headers work ok but not as thick metal as I would like; price was right though.
The Mustang's Driver's side Headers does have the correct bent to it.
If you get a set of adapter headers, (L&L Products quality ++) then you will have the correct configuration of the driver's side header. Most are not cheap but some are better than others.

ltr,

im having trouble with the oil pan hitting the drop bracket. what oil pan will work?

are you using the double sumper?

generally in the 4x4's i cut the offending corner out and have it welded in backwards, but lift kits usually negate that. sometimes i cut and turn the whole front corner when needing to lowe the engine more.

just depends on whats needed.

ime= in my experience

and when i say aerostar linkages i am referring to the shaft from the column to the box....
