So I am wondering about the timing on 302... It has edelbrock rpm heads, and intake, 1406 carb, FMS x303 cam and '90 stock bottom. How much total timing should I have? I am running 20 degrees initial now with 20 mechanical advance and seems to be pretty good, but I have not tried anything lower. I do know that when I am turning the dist. it seems to idle much smoother if I advance it farther than 20. What are your thoughts on just setting it where it idles smoothest and locking out the mech advance if I set it about 36 to 38? Thanks for any advice!

Set it to whereever it runs the best on the fuel you're feeding it without pinging.

Are you using any power adders? N/A I would run it about 38*total and with nitrous I would run it about 2* per 75hp extra shot. 75=2* & 150=4* and so on. I would only run 12-14 initial unless you are using a timing retard box.
