I'd go for it depend on the shape it's in and the miles on chassis. For $500, you can sure do a lot with it. Thanks for the suggestion of another brew, this is Wisconsin and it's nice out!

If those are really the only two options, I tend to agree. Sounds like a LOT for a used engine though. Look around the junkyards - you can probably find one in a wrecked truck for less.
I'm sure I could if I pulled it, but I run my own auto repair shop and am the "lead" tech. I don't have time to. The prices I qouted are for engines with less than 40K on them have been run tested for oil pressure, warm compression, and such and have a year warranty from the junk yard.
That's a horse of a different color, didn't realize you were looking at engines with that kind of low mileage, etc... $750 for that sounds like an excellent deal if they're pulling it and handing it to you ready to go.
Man I guess I got lucky last fall when I replaced my 3.0 with one that had 43k miles for $300 and got a bunch of other goodies with it. Got it from another member on here.
