I am new to the 4.0 engines. Not familiar with them at all. I just got a 95 Ranger with a 4.0. Accordingly to prior owner it has mustang 5.0 injectors, and a 3.0 throttlebody(according to him it is bigger than 4.0-flows more air). Is this sounding alright to you guys? Please give me some input of your knowledge on this matter. I am hoping that I was not subject to B.S. Tech. that pulled one over on me!:dntknw: Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The TB is a restriction on the 3.0, and not thinking 5.0 injectors will fit on a 4.0.....I'm gonna have to say.....

The injectors are all more or less the same shape and size, so it's possible.

Whay anyone would think that a bigger TB is needed on a 4.0 escapes my concept of rational, but it's been a while since I've sene a '98-up 3.0 to look at the TB but cannot imagine why ford would use a bigger TB on a 3.0 than on a 4.0...

I will say that the 4.0 and 4.0SOHC use the same size TB, so why would a TB that's adequate for a 207hp engine need to be improved upon for a 160hp engine?

Oh and BTW, the disc pintle 4.0OHV injectors are 24#/hr injectors
while the 5.0 HO pieces are only 19#/hr, so switching to 5.0 injectors
would be a step BACKWARDS...

I will agree with Albert Einstein that there is no conservation
of stupidity in the universe....

AllanD - the last I checked, all the 4.0 OHV injectors (except for the 1990 versions) are 19# - the SOHC uses 24# injectors. There is no gain switching to regular 5.0 injectors unless the original injectors are messed up and making the engine run badly.
