Gearing change affecting ECM?

I have a 2007 Ranger, 2.3L, 5spd, 2wd. I am about to swap in an explorer 8.8 regeared to 4.30/1. I was wondering if the gearing change would effect the overall engine performance?

It shouldn't effect how the engine performs... It will probably seem like it has a bit more grunt but that will just be the new gears..
