i pulled the bed off and got to the speed sensor on top of the rear dif and all i found was the rear ABS sensor and nothing on or around the diff that looks like the part that autozone sold me. Could the speedo problem BE the abs sensor and the magnet has just been worn out?

what i got looks like a tiny square rotating pin on one in and on the "plug in" side there's the connector and a tiny white plastic gear in a tiny housing...from the looks of it i would say it would go up in the cluster.. is that right?

They sold you a transmission OSS/VSS whatever they call it.

Take it back.

It would be helpful if you filled out a profile with your year/engine/etc. info.
Some years used the ABS Sensor on the rear pumpkin for speedometer signal, other years had a speed sensor on the transmission. Without knowing your year and what you are trying to fix (ABS problem or Speedo problem), it's hard to say.

Edit: So I looked at your other post and see it's a 2000. The sensor on the axle is the one generating your speedo signal. They gave you the wrong part. Might ask for a rear ABS Sensor or just carry the old one in with you.
