I've seen a thread around somewhere that shows how to convert a manual 2wd transmission to a 4wd. Anyone happen to know where it is?
 
bump looking for the same thing.. specifically a 2.3 4cyl transmission I want a 4x4 M5OD .. can I convert a 2wd transmission to 4wd easily? not many rangers for sale around me with a 4 cyl, 4x4 5 speed manual...:icon_confused:

I'm thinking a on off road 2.3 turbo bronco 2 converted to removable hard top :)
 
2wd to 4x4 trans

The only way is to take apart the trans and put a 4x4 output shaft in and use a 4x4 extension housing. These trannys are real simple to work on.
 
the bell housing part of the transmission on M5OD isn't it... It would be nice If I could switch the bell housing, but integral bell housings make the case stronger...
