I tried to take my MAF sensor aprt but they had this goop on one of the screws that would not come out of the hole. I went to my neighbor to use his dremmel (mines battery was dead) and he (Mercedes mechanic) warned me I shouldn't screw around with those wires. He said that if I insist on using my cleaner to just spray it at the wires while it was still in the housing. So thats what I did, I didn't just screw up anything did I? I haven't ran the truck yet because I want to make sure the cleaner has evaporated.:dunno:

No, that's exactly how you clean a MAF. The entire electronics + intake tube is the MAF. You clean out the wires by spraying at them in the tiny tube. You don't disassemble the security screws on the electronics housing.

Thanks that makes me feel alittle better. All the directions that I read on here and on the MAF Cleaner can said to take apart the electronics.

I ran into the same issue, but I just sprayed the crap out of the MAF, and made sure the cleaner drained all the way thru the sensor. I let it dry for about 10 minutes before I fired it up.

Did you notice any difference? I didn't.

If the maf sensor is dirty enough to cause a problem, it sometimes has to be taken apart for proper cleaning. Use a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol, and gently remove the crud from the elements. In some cases, if the dirt and oil are baked on, a small flexable brush can be used. I look at mine with a magnifying glass to make sure I get it all. Being careful is a given.:)shady

i did mine just pulled it out sprayed it left to dry for 15 min and i didnt really notice any difference
