1997 3.0l what tranny fits

I want to get a 1997 2WD 3.0l automatic with a busted tranny back on the road.

The mechanic told me that the replacment tranny must be from a 1997 3.0l Ranger, because other years dont fit.

Is he right?

Does anyone now if other trannys fit?

I have access to a salvage interchange index. Here is what I come up with. It looks like your mechanic is right, only a 1997 will fit.




MAZDA B3000 1997 A.T.; 4x2
RANGER - 1997 A.T.; (3.0L), 4x2
