My 2003 Ranger reg. cab only has the 3rd brake light and no cargo light that lights up the bed when the doors are open. I have noticed that most supercab rangers have the cargo light and I was wondeing if I could make the swap by just tapping into the interior dome light and buying the other style cargo light. Has anyone ever tried this and do you think it is possible?

My truck originally didn't come with cargo lights. I bought an LED third brake light that does have cargo lights and I just mounted a toggle switch on the dash and ran the wire up to the fuse block. I thought about tapping into the dome light right at the switch, but the wiring looked a little too thin and I didn't feel comfortable putting any more load on it. It probably would've been okay, but I feel a lot better running a separate wire.
